Johnson and Lenati Relationship Grows via Internship Program

9 / 5 / 2013

As evidence of our commitment to building great partnerships with schools, Lenati has cultivated a natural relationship with the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management, a top-10 MBA program at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY via two Johnson alumni, Martin Mehalchin (MBA), and Pam Spier (MBA, BS) as well as 2 Cornell alumni, Erin McMonigal (BA) and Andrew Liu (MEng).

The primary advantage of being an intern at Lenati is that you don't feel like an intern.

This past summer Lenati welcomed two MBA interns from Johnson: Sarah Maynard (MBA ’14) and  Aaron Moskowitz (MBA ’14) both with years of relevant marketing and sales experience. Despite being told to bring rain gear for the typically rainy month of June, the Johnson interns were treated to one of the most pleasant summers in recent history.

One goal of Lenati’s MBA internship is to give students as much of a “real world” experience as possible while avoiding common internship pitfalls. Both Aaron and Sarah were staffed on client projects by the end of their first week and were key members of their project teams, owning workstreams, creating key deliverables and presenting to clients.

Also critical to our internship program is the insight provided on how management consulting operates internally. Both Sarah and Aaron made large contributions internally.  Sarah joined Marc Steiner and Clay Walton-House on the Customer Acquisition & Retention practice team to help develop a new solution offering.  In addition, Sarah partnered to co-write a blog on Navigating the Social Influencer Landscape.  Meanwhile Aaron joined the Retail practice team led by Martin Mehalchin and Paul Condor and completed key research that will influence future Lenati retail partnerships.

Each summer Lenati strives to give its interns an experience that prepares them for their second year of business school and careers following graduation.  Playing up the benefits of working for a smaller business, Lenati emphasizes to its interns the freedom to drive their own experience while also gaining on the job training and development.   In the words of 2013 summer intern Sarah Maynard, “I truly feel I am leaving Lenati after this summer better prepared to make an impact on whichever organization I chose after graduation.  Furthermore, I am better prepared to make an impact on consulting and club projects during my last year in business school."

As Lenati continues to grow its internship program, we are excited to continue to partner with Johnson. If you are interesting in partnering with Lenati for MBA or undergraduate recruiting please contact careers@lenati.com.
