Mark - Consultant
Q: What do you love about working at Lenati?
A: Lots of things. I think I would
start with the fact that everyone is super smart and
critical thinkers. We often work independently, but anytime
you want to talk with someone, shoot them an email, meet
them for lunch, they’re always happy to go over what you’re
doing and provide insightful feedback, regardless of their
familiarity with your project.
It’s a very collaborative environment. In other firms I’ve worked for there’s a competitive nature to it, which, I think, can be especially true in the in the consulting world. But here I don’t get that sense whatsoever. Everyone is excited about new projects, new work that others are doing, what’s out there, meeting new clients.
Q: What about the
projects? How would you define the work we do? How have the
projects compelled, stimulated and challenged you?
A: All of the above for sure. My first
project was a strategy project and I was thrown into the
fire so to speak. I was interviewing thought leaders and it
was a huge challenge. In previous roles that I’ve had, I’ve
not necessarily had the opportunity to provide my own
insight. At other firms, I found myself showing up, doing
the 15 things for the day and going home. Consulting at
Lenati is different. It’s always changing, and there always
new things you can bring in or think about. I love the
interaction and how things evolve day to day to get a
successful result.
Q: What kind of
support have you gotten from Lenati?
A: I’ve worked mostly with one of the
Partners who fully admits that he’ll let you go unless it’s
clear you’re sinking. That’s the style I’ve always
appreciated. He’s always been there if I am struggling or if
I’m at a point where I don’t know how to move things forward.
He’s always there to provide feedback and insight.
For the way I like to learn and be
managed, it’s been ideal. I like to be able to dig in, put
my thoughts on paper and talk it through with the client. I
think the leaership really trust in the people that they’re
bringing on board to put some thought into what they’re
doing and try and get things right. For me it’s been
fantastic. I should probably ask for more guidance to build
my skills quicker. But I like being a little bit stressed
out now and then to try and learn.
Q: Has Lenati
allowed you to balance your work
and personal life?
A: One of the things that I really like about Lenati which has been 100% true during my time here, was their respect of personal life. Work/life balance is a key feature of this company. There’s often a concern with consulting, especially if you’re talking about the big five, and especially if you’re new that you’ll coming in, work 80 hours per week, travel around the country, and not be able to balance a family or whatever you may have going on in your own life.
Of course there are going to be times
here at Lenati when you’ll be working a ton, but that’s true
of any job. But Lenati makes a really strong effort to
recognize that you’ve got a family, and you’ve got things
going on in your personal life, and to make sure you make
time for that. This balance makes you a better employee. It
makes you a better worker if you can let off some steam. And
for us, as part of the team, to have that flexibility has
been great. There haven’t been any requirements to make sure
you’re in the office doing this or that. Get your work done,
do a good job, go home. Enjoy your time outside of work.
It’s been fantastic.
